Some of the younger members of IJC went to the University of East Anglia (UEA) for a mini-mon competition, along with some members who went for a grading.

We had five competitors in the mini-mon; Alister Topliss, Charlotte Stark, Joseph Breame, Aaron Hawkins and Stephen Forster. Graders were James Wilson, Jack Bentley and Edward Reeve.

We came away with 3 Golds and 2 Silvers, and here are some pictures of that mini-mon competition...

Well done Charlotte - Charlotte won a gold (her 3rd Competition). She won 3 fights, 2 with throws for Ippon and one with a hold down.

Well done Alistair - Alister won 3 fights, 2 by Ippon throws (including a Kata Garuma!) and one by an Ippon hold. He won Gold.

How low can you go...

Well done Aaron - Aaron was also taking part in his first competition. He initially fought three times, winning 2 (one with an Ippon throw and one with a hold), and losing one. At this point 3 people were tied, so he had to fight again. He had 2 further fights, winning both (one with a hold and one with a superb throw for Ippon) and he took the Gold.

Well done Joseph - Joseph was also taking part in his first away competition. He won 2 (one with a hold for Ippon, one with a throw for Ippon) and he lost one. He got a Silver.

No pictures of Stephen unfortunately (unless someone has got some to pass onto me. Stephen won his first fight with two Waza-ari throws, and then his second fight with a hold. He lost his third fight and came away with a Silver. This was a good result in only his second competition.
